Runtime Virtual Texturing
Details
Brief Overview and Demonstration
Runtime Virtual Textures are a relatively new tech recently added to Unreal. A Runtime Virtual Texture (RVT) is created by the GPU on at runtime, and works similarly to traditional texture mapping. The RVT caches shading data on demand, making them a good fit for Landscape shading that uses decal-like materials and splines that are well suited to conform to the terrain.
Join us to hear a brief overview covering what RVT is and what it can do for you, followed by a short live demonstration where we create and use a sample RVT.
