Hike to Eaton Canyon Falls (Beginner to Intermediate)
Details
First Untethered Meetup in Los Angeles! We've heard great things about the hike to Eaton Canyon Falls in the Angeles National Forest. Hopefully the river water and the spring blooms will be in full force for us.
Trail Description
A relatively easy hike up a canyon in the lower San Gabriels to a 40-foot waterfall. It is a very popular trail, so it gets quite crowded over the weekend.
Modern Hiker considers this hike for adventurous beginners. This trail has stream crossings, and optional, moderate trails on fire roads and single tracks through some of the eastern nature preserve outside the canyon. We will primarily stick to the main path for this hike and see how we are feeling about exploring the surrounding meadows.
The trails are considered to be in very good condition. They are heavily traveled and easy to make out, with proper signage.
Things to Consider
While the trail is easy to follow, you will have to hop across some boulders in a river. Please have shoes with proper traction or hiking sandals to wade through the river.

We will meet in front the staging area, marked by a short stone ledge (pictured below).
