Dupont State Forest Waterfall Hike

Dupont State Forest Waterfall Hike

Details

Fall brings to mind thoughts of football, haunted hay rides, cider, pumpkin carving, seasonal brews... and obviously stunning hikes. Dupont State Forest has a lot of easy to moderate trails with scenic waterfalls, covered bridges, and quiet ponds - and this weekend the trees should be right in the middle of their peak colors!

We will meet at the "Hooker Falls" parking lot at 10am. The address below will get you there. Carpoolers, I would suggest meeting somewhere along I-485 on the west side of town and hit the road by 7:45am (so don’t go too crazy Friday night!). It's a little over a two hour drive from Charlotte.

The preliminary plan is to hike about 4-6 miles over the course of a few hours with plenty of chances to stop & take in the sights or have lunch. For those who have plans back in Charlotte that night, we'll probably wrap up the hike by 3-4pm. We could also grab dinner & drinks nearby if anybody wants to stay.

*STRONGLY recommend bringing water/snacks, packing a lunch, and wearing footwear with some good traction/ankle support.

**Original address not working on all maps. Instead use: Crab Creek Rd & Dupont Rd, Crab Creek, NC 28766 - You will turn left onto Dupont Rd from Crab Creek Rd and drive 3.1 miles to the Hooker Falls Parking Lot on your right. (Dupont Rd turns into Staton Rd). If you cross the "Little River" bridge, you've gone too far. Call or text Bryan if you need: (585) 451-4008
