What we're about

We are a urban center for spirituality, arts, and activism! We are boldly progressive and seek to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God. We're rooted in the Christian tradition, but love learning and growing through other valued spiritual teachings. Our healing community gathers every Sunday, but also meets up sometimes in our Cafe or for arts and activism out in the community.

Urban Sanctuary San Jose

Our current message series is Questions about the Bible. Most of us have lots of questions about the Bible that we have parked somewhere and left to collect dust. Is the Bible the Word of God? Does it promote violence? I am expected to literally believe that people passed through a sea that parted, or that Jesus really walked on water? If the Bible is full of things like this, is it relevant as a spiritual guide for me today? Join us for the series, and if you can't, contact Pastor Dana with your question about the Bible at https://urbansanctuarysj.org/contact-us/ --------- Urban Sanctuary is a boldly progressive spiritual community rooted in the Christian tradition. We seek to be a safe place to explore beliefs and practices with freedom, a place where questions are encouraged and where valued Wisdom traditions co-exist to enrich each other. Urban Sanctuary meets at the old First Christian Church of San Jose. Come as you are to Urban Sanctuary at 10 a.m. and join us for music, messages, contemplation and prayer. Typically 20-30 people attend services. You can find out more at https://urbansanctuarysj.org
