"Taste the Hudson Valley" Bike Tour

Take a bike ride to one of the most spectacular regions for both scenery and artisanal food and wine on this full-day tour in the Hudson Valley. Vault across the Hudson River on the Walkway Over the Hudson, then experience two beautiful rail trails on a mostly car-free ride to the town of Gardiner, where a bicycling excursion takes a turn to explore the local flavors of the Hudson Valley. Make three stops to taste it all, with lunch included. No car or driving required.

Take the Metro-North Hudson Line train to Poughkeepsie with bike in tow (bikes are allowed on the train) and meet the group to start the day's journey. The train leaves Grand Central at 8:48am and Harlem-125th Street at 8:59am, then arrives in Poughkeepsie at 10:47am. (If not coming from NYC, drive to the Poughkeepsie train station and park for free before meeting the group at 10:47am). Guides will provide energy bars, snacks, and water before sending the group on their way.

It’s a 15.5 mile ride to the first stop at Gardiner Liquid Mercantile. Receive an overview of the region’s wine, spirit, and cider industry along with a sampling of a few local ciders. From there, it’s an additional 1.8 miles to the second stop at Tuthilltown Spirits where lunch is served at their restaurant inside a historic grist mill. After lunch, take a tour of the distillery and have a tasting of their excellent whisky. Then it’s 2.6 miles more to the third and final stop: Whitecliff Vineyard and Winery. Approach the winery using local roads with beautiful views of the Shawgunk Ridge. A shuttle will be waiting to transport guests and bicycles to the Poughkeepsie train station for the ride back to New York City. Exact train times cannot be guaranteed. However, the trains leave hourly and take approximately two hours to reach Grand Central.

While going through the various stops on this tour, guides will transport any wines or spirits that have been purchased in a support vehicle so they don't have to be carried on the bike while riding.

Lunch, three tastings, and transportation of you and your bike back to Poughkeepsie are all included in the price. Train fare is not included, but a discounted rail fare can be bought for an additional $29.75.
