You Majored in What? Paths Into the UX Professions

In tonight's interactive panel discussion, participants have the opportunity to learn about the many paths that are available to enter into any of a number of UX professions, such as UX designer, researcher, information architect, and taxonomist.
Our panelists:
Laurah Mwirichia, Sr Product Writer at Square, believes that when it comes to creating digital products, writing is designing. A self-taught UX writer, she started out as an anthropology and pre-med student. She is currently a UX writer at Square and a contributor to: UX Design Collective, Prototypr, The Writing Cooperative, Chatbots Magazine. She lives in New York City where she enjoys riding bikes, caring for her indoor plants and learning languages on Duolingo.
Lauren Dillard, Lead Product Designer at MassMutual, started college as a biochemistry major at Oregon State University. She did eventually switch majors after falling in love with journalism and becoming editor of her college newspaper. She began her career as a newspaper page designer working at The Oregonian and Hewlett-Packard. That's about when she started practicing user experience design. Lauren lives in Philadelphia with her fiancé Andy and 5-month-old puppy Nova.
Lubina Bogoeva, Senior UX Designer at FiServ, initially worked as a makeup artist and started one of the first skincare and makeup blogs. Her growing interest in web design led her to major in art. She has been a UX Designer for companies such as Bank of America, Fiserv and Thermo Fisher, as well as non-profits and design studios. She lives in Central New Jersey where she enjoys yoga, VR gaming and photographing the wildlife visiting her garden.
Before and during the event, participants have an opportunity to suggest questions and provide us with other information to help make this event successful. We are providing access to a Miro board for this purpose. Miro is a very popular virtual white board platform that can be used to support a wide variety of group collaboration activities. Examples include affinity mapping, voting, ideation, process flow mapping, design thinking, and many more.
Note that you will need to pre-register for this event.
Registrants are being given a link to the Miro board that will be used on the night of the event. The link to the Miro board will also be provided in the chat feature of the Zoom meeting used to host the event.

About our Facilitator: Josephine Giaimo is Lead UX Researcher at ChaiOne, a Houston boutique IT services firm providing behavioral science-based research and design services. She holds a Master of Science degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she specialized in human-computer interaction and emerging technologies.
