Talk - I'm not dead yet! - CodeIgniter
In 2006 when CodeIgniter 1 came out it was one of the first rapid development PHP frameworks on the market and It was a pioneer that inspired future frameworks such as Yii and Laravel. With the release of CodeIgniter 2, it was among the most popular frameworks out there but it later ran into support issues and lost its popularity and many have thought that it was a dead framework. Despite this, CodeIgniter 4 was released about a year ago and has made marked improvements over previous versions. This presentation will take a look at the new version of the framework from the perspective of building an API and why you might want to consider it for your next project.
Speaker Bio
Derek Caswell is a Senior PHP Developer for IngoMoney. He has a BS in Information Technologies from Brigham Young University and has been a PHP Developer for 11 years. He loves working with open source technologies and building cool things. He is married and has 3 daughters including a set of twins that keep him on his feet.
