Building a Modern SPA without an API
Remember the good ol' days when all your sites were server rendered, and you only used JavaScript and jQuery to add some interactivity here and there? Then along came the Single Page App (SPA) and all of a sudden we realized that we can make a web app that feels like a native app. There's a catch, though! With an SPA, you have to have 2 systems (the frontend and the API), each system with its own routing, state management, validation, business rules, etc. Additionally, there are the devops considerations: where are you going to host each system and what domains or subdomains are going to be used to access them. What if I told you that there is a system that feels like a server-rendered app to the developer but an SPA to the user? Come with me as I introduce you to inertiajs.com, a library that makes it possible to do just that.
Speaker Bio
Derek Caswell has been a developer since 2008. He has a BS in Information Technologies and has filled many roles in the software development life cycle throughout his career. He is a Senior Software Developer and scrum master and is passionate about scrum done the right way. He is the Utah PHP User Group Co-Organizer and has been a contributor in multiple open source libraries. Derek enjoys video games (of course), spending time with family, and hitting the golf course when his back allows it.
