Title: SQL On Linux For The Windows DBA
Speaker: Jim Donahoe

Abstract: Are you a DBA that has worked ONLY on Windows since starting your career with SQL Server? Did you know that SQL Server is also running on Linux now? Has your company expressed interest in running SQL on Linux and that has made you nervous? Well, this is the session for you! We are going to go over the similarities in SQL Server best practices from Windows and apply them to Linux! We will discuss file allocations, configuring trace flags, TempDB, etc. By the end of this session, you will have a firm understanding on how to not only install SQL on Linux, but be able to troubleshoot, and support the system as well! When you leave, you will have the practical knowledge and comfort level to use SQL Notebooks in your day-to-day work.

Bio: Jim currently works as a Customer Engineer (Formerly PFE) at Microsoft. He is based out of South Park Township, PA(Pittsburgh). He loves working with Linux, and Azure. In his free time, he is an avid collector of older video games. You can follow him on Twitter here: @SQLFlipFlopsDBA
