There is an old saying that the way you start your year is the way your year will go. While I’m not very superstitious, there’s no harm in starting the year with friends. I’d love to make it a healthy and happy new year, and if the weather permits, I’d love to go on a hike. Explore the hills between Suisun Valley and Green Valley, and see sweeping views of Solano County and beyond. Enjoying the vistas of Solano County and searching for wildflowers. Moderate to Strenuous, 4-6 miles, rain cancels,
Hike level: Moderate to Moderately Strenuous
Parking: Please park in the main parking lot. Parking is $5, payable by cash or card at the kiosk.
The Hike duration is from 10am - 2pm. The main gate will be locked after letting in the last car by 10am, The park will be closed to the public. You musts be registered to enter. Limited participant slots will be available. Participants will need to stay with the group and in the park for the whole duration of the activity. The gate will not open until the event is complete.
What to bring:
* Walking Sticks (if needed)
* Snack (docents may allow for a snack break during the hike)
* Sun, wind, and rain protection (as needed)

Let's volunteer our time in the New Year
Fairfield Warehouse Food Bank, 2370 N Watney Way,, Fairfield, CA, USWhen you count your blessings is food at the top of your list? If you've been blessed, would you be able to help others? We have room for up to ten people to help pack food for those in need. Start your year right and get your first few hours of volunteering taken care of early.
Leading the fight to end hunger is something the Food Bank cannot do alone. In just one volunteer shift, we can help feed thousands of people in your community by:
- Bagging fresh produce
- Bagging or boxing shelf-stable foods for distributions
- Serving families at our food distributions
- And more!
Space is limited, but you can sign up at Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano (let me know if it doesn't work, and I'll try to fix it or add your name to the list)
