Join astronomer Jon Pannier for Astronomy Nights at Rush Ranch! These popular nights of informational star gazing occur monthly between May and September. Each month will have a different presentation topic to begin the night, and then participants will move outside to stargaze. Please wear layers as Rush Ranch gets chilly when the sun goes down, and bring strong bug spray for mosquitoes! If you have your own telescope and are familiar with setting it up and using it, you may bring it, but please arrive before dark. Those arriving after sunset are asked to dim their headlights.
Helpful tips:
*Please wear layers! Rush Ranch gets chilly when the sun goes down!
*Bring strong bug spray! Expect mosquitoes!
*If you have your own telescope, and you are familiar using it, you may bring it. Please be open to sharing as well!
**It is recommended that children are supervised at all times. Please be respectful to the presenter, volunteers and others around you. - Let’s go hiking at Valentine Vista againMeet at Valley Church, Vacaville, CA
We tried this earlier in the year, but this time we hope to conquer the trail. If we're successful, our next victory will be finding a place for lunch.
From Valentine Vista Loop: "With a name like Valentine Vista Trail, it’s hard not to wax poetic about the brilliance of this 4.3-mile hike hidden in the hills of Napa at Moore Creek Park. This hike is spectacular for views! Wildflowers are a colorful bonus in spring.
"The hike begins alongside Moore Creek, meandering on a wide dirt trail. A gradual uphill takes you to the Valentine Vista Loop sign, where you’ll veer onto a singletrack weaving up a hillside in gentle switchbacks, under canopies of oak, and back out to the increasingly wider views of the valley and hills of Napa.
"At the trail’s highest point you get to the absolute highlight of the hike—a wide and exposed ridgeline featuring stellar views of the deep valley, Lake Hennessey winking sunlight in the distance, and romantic rolling hills. After a long walk on the ridge, descend back to the creek. We heart Valentine Vista.
