-- PRESENTATION 7pm Thursday Apr 16: Microformats - Adding Semantics to Your Web Site - Web 3.0 in Action

In April we have a presentation by Gerald Bauer on microformats, a web-site markup practice that supports better automated processing of existing data by attaching semantic tags. Join us as Gerald shows us what microformats are and what's being done with them. Following the presentation we'll have a door prize draw, round-the-room introductions, and then open networking. This is a networking event so bring your business/contact cards and a story or two to share.

Details and RSVP:

VanDev currently has over 800 members but provides only limited services to support our network. The best way to network is to get out and talk to people but only about 6% of us can attend any one of our meetings so what do we do? You're invited to discuss any ideas that you have on our mailing list at [address removed].

There are many professional and social networking services outside of Meetup and we've recently formed groups on LinkedIn and Facebook. If you're a member of these then please consider joining us there.

Suggestion: Please get to know someone before trying to identify them as a friend on these networks. It's best to talk to them in person, exchange business cards, and suggest that you connect as friends on such-and-such a network. A network of strangers is not a network at all, IMHO. :-)

Special thanks to the staff at UBC Robson Square for providing our meeting space, to David Aplin Recruiting for covering our fees and other expenses, and to O'Reilly for donating books as door prizes.

UBC Robson Square:

Also thanks to our special volunteers:
- Kim Kulak: O'Reilly contact and door prize management

As always, feel free to contact us with feedback, suggestions, and speaker recommendations. And please help us to build our network by spreading the word and encouraging others to join. The strength of our network is a function of our combined efforts.

Take care.

Guy, VanDev Organizer
