What we're about

VanVR (The Vancouver VR Community) is the best in the west inclusive virtual reality collective comprised of VR enthusiasts, evangelists, and creators. We invite folks of all different levels and interests. Our goal is to share our work and thoughts, actively promote diversity, and to create an enriched discourse on VR, making Vancouver a premiere flagship virtual reality hub in Canada.

In 2018, The Vancouver VR Community merged with the VanVR Meetup. VanVR was established in 2013, and introduced technical workshops and socials around VR - this Meetup started it all, and we are so excited to bring two specialized and diverse teams together.

#CubeSocial - VR/AR Community Social powered by Lawson Lundell

There are a lot of new technologies/content being launched in Virtual and Augmented Reality. Don't miss the opportunity to see them first hand at the Cube. (RSVP required) Join us on Friday, February 22nd, from 5 - 7:30 pm. RSVP HERE: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/cubesocial-vrar-community-social-powered-by-lawson-lundell-tickets-55995464943 This is an opportunity for all of us in the AR/VR/MR community to connect, network, and have some fun after work. We’ve invited the tenants at The Cube, the Cube Board of advisors and all of you! Of course, we’ll have the AR/VR gear out for all to play along. NEW ATTRACTIONS: MUSEUM OF OTHER REALITIES by Northway Games A community of creators, explorers, and artists, the MOR provides a place to connect, share, and experience new media together with others from all over the world. The museum contains a cross-section of the free-ranging experimentation present in the relatively new medium of virtual reality art, supporting artists who are challenging and redefining what is possible. Together we can discover what this new space means to all of us. ALLIANCE by Tiny Leviathan A modern twist on arcade shooters realized in VR. SHOOT. DESTROY. EQUIP. REPEAT. Command a heavily armed battlecruiser as you forge a fleet capable of stopping the enemy A.I. that has decimated mankind. Only with this alliance can you hope to bring humanity back from the brink. Developed by Tiny Leviathan Studios. PLATOON TACTICAL by Off World Industries P-TAC delivers the most immersive simulated training and operational support experience by creating highly demanding, dynamic and realistic settings to accurately replicate the full spectrum of ground combat scenarios. We aim to replicate a deployment before a deployment; inexperience should no longer mean success or failure of your mission. INFLOW by Inscape Studios Inflow is a mindfulness application to help people de-stress, get grounded, and find their focus. Inflow is based on 'flow psychology', which describes a state of being completely absorbed in whatever you're doing. It's commonly associated with challenging sports, but it can be experienced doing almost anything. It can bring great mental health benefits, so we wanted to make something that facilitated it simply and easily. Inflow was inspired by moving meditations and combined them with game mechanics to create something that's a little like Tai Chi meets Tetris. RSVP HERE: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/cubesocial-vrar-community-social-powered-by-lawson-lundell-tickets-55995464943 FOOD / BEVERAGE: We’ll have light snacks, beer and wine available while quantities last. PLEASE RSVP noting if you’re bringing a +1 or 2. A warm thank you to our sponsor, Lawson Lundell.
