Book Club!
Just some ladies who love to read! Come and join us for a discussion, dinner, wine and a great chat! We read a range of books anything from chick lit to historical dramas to classics and are open to suggestions. We try not to choose anything below a rating of 4/5 on Good Reads and usually read novels that feature a female protagonist. The book club is every second Monday of the Month throughout the fall, winter and spring with a break June-Sept for summer. This Month we are reading: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. 4.3/5 on Goodreads. Synopsis: "No one’s ever told Eleanor that life should be better than fine. Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the sidewalk, the three become the kinds of friends who rescue one another from the lives of isolation they have each been living. And it is Raymond’s big heart that will ultimately help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one. Soon to be a major motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is the smart, warm, and uplifting story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . . The only way to survive is to open your heart."

What we're about

Hello, ladies!

Welcome! Are you looking to expand your social circle? Perhaps you’re new in town and you’re looking to make connections with other fun, fearless girls. Whatever your reasons for joining, you’ve come to the right place!

I’m Sarah, PR professional by day, fun-loving city girl by night.

I created Vancity Gal Pals because I know firsthand how challenging it can be to meet people who really “get you.” These are the people who inspire you to be the best version of yourself. The people who make you laugh so hard you can’t breathe. This group is for all of you—the ladies who are seeking genuine connections that will make a meaningful impact on your life, no matter what your journey may be.

Though I am the founder of Vancity Gal Pals, I have relocated to London, England, where I am leading the group's sister chapter: London City Gal Pals.

Our fabulous committee -- led by Ema and Sandy -- and supported by Tamara, Candace, Yvonne and Kamal, are here to ensure you feel welcome and have a great experience. They'll be hosting regular fun activities and events, such as happy hours, brunches, a book club, dinners out, hiking trips, trivia nights, local vendor showcases, makeup tutorials, professional development events, girls nights in and any other activity that you think might be a fit with your interests. We're always open to suggestions!

Thanks for joining us! :)
