• What we'll do
Enjoy a dinner with other classical music lovers before the show. We have had these gatherings a few times in the last year, and they are popular. Arrive 5:45pm, eat and talk, and finish by 7:30pm. This is in time for The Mahler 8th Symphony performance, by the Vancouver Bach Choir and the West Coast Symphony Orchestra starts at 8pm, and is its own meetup event (

The venue is Patron Tacos and Cantina, a lively restaurant serving Mexican food, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options ( It is on Robson near Mainland, a 5-block walk to the Orpheum. (The venue is moved from the originally announced location.)

Your host is Jim DeLaHunt, a singer in the Bach Choir. He will bring his Mahler 8 score and can tell you about the work, and the experience of singing it. Sadly, Jim will leave a bit early; he has a 7pm call time at the Orpheum.

You don't need to attend the concert; coming to just this event is fine. You don't need to have dinner, a snack is OK, but it would be nice give the restaurant some business.

If there is interest we can also meet after the concert for drinks at 10pm: see separate meetup event.
