Animating The Everyday: A DIY Approach with Karolina Glusiec

Details
Now that summer is in full blast, why not join us for a nice, air-conditioned talk to cool down.
Generally, we've have speakers who share their expertise in the areas of robotics, software development and hardware programming. However this time, we'll be focusing on the 'art' part of Creative Tech, with our upcoming speaker, Karolina Glusiec.
A practicing animation artist, filmmaker and lecturer, Karolina considers herself the luckiest person in the world who enjoys the simple and surprising sides of the every day. Her art involves resourcing and up-cycling; making the most of it and making the new from scratch. She is the 2012 Winner of the Jerwood Drawing Prize and has won the 2013 Ann Arbor Film Festival award for best animated film.
In her talk, Karolina will discuss her DIY approach to collaboration, her experimental and open-source way of working and re-sourcing, which technology she uses for traditional animation, as well as the important role her grandparents have played in her work. You can follow her on Instagram at @karolina.glusiec as well as view her work on Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/karolinaglusiec
After a short break, we'll try something a little different. Instead of our usual TAD Talks, we'll introduce a discussion topic related to the creative industries that everyone can participate in. Let's see if we can generate some interesting perspectives!
All are welcome to attend! We typically have some food and drink available, but please keep in mind this is an alcohol-free venue. We also encourage visitors to keep the classroom tidy as it is an active learning environment for the current cohort of students.
PS: If you haven't already, please fill out our quick 1min survey to give us feedback. I promise vast riches!
