An event of panel discussion on European Trade will be held on January 5th, 2016 (TUE) to provide attendees an opportunity to interact with several professionals with years of experience in this area. Please note that only 30 seats are available, sign up soon if you are interested.

The session will involve an introduction to our panel members followed by an update on the status of CETA (European Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) and then we delve into questions from the moderators and audience. The expert panelists are legal and tax experts with extensive knowledge in this trade region. Please come prepared to address any questions to the panel. This event will be hosted by Acsenda School of Management, with Dr. Michele Vincenti acting as our friendly moderator.

Alex Martyniak – Executive Director EU Chamber of Commerce in Canada - West

Mr. Martyniak is the executive director for the European Chamber of Commerce in Canada – West. He has many years of experience in cross border policies and is very knowledgeable about the Canada-European Union: Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

Celso A. A. Boscariol Partner, Watson Goepel LLP

Mr. Boscariol graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1981 and was called to the Bar in Alberta in 1982 and British Columbia in 1995. Mr. Boscariol is Past President of the Liberal Party of Canada (B.C.). In 1996 Mr. Boscariol Co-Chaired the National Convention of the Liberal Party of Canada. He has also served as President of the National Federation of Canadian-Italian Business and Professional Associations Inc. and is a member of the Vancouver Board of Trade. Currently Mr. Boscariol is the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Canada – West.

Juan Angel Becerra

Juan graduated as a Chartered Accountant in Mexico in 1988. He earned an Adv. LL.M. on International Tax Law from Leiden University, The Netherlands in 2002, and a Masters on Mexican Tax Law from a well known private institute in Mexico in 1993. Juan is a certified public accountant and a certified tax specialist from the Mexico City’s Public Accountants Association. Juan has more than 24 years of experience in the provision of tax advice regarding tax treaty interpretation, cross-border M&A, and cross-border financial transactions and investments. Since January 2006 Juan has been an independent consultant; an independent member of the Board of Directors of a life insurance company in Mexico; off-counsel to accounting and law firms in Mexico on international taxation; and author of several publications, including the book “Interpretation and Application of Tax Treaties in North America” IBFD, Amsterdam (2007) and its Second Revised Edition (2013);

Juan has been a frequent speaker in International Tax Seminars in Mexico, the United States, Europe (while working with KPMG) and most recently in Canada for the Canada Revenue Agency and in Mexico for the Tax Administration Service. As well, he has been a frequent guest commentator at a prestigious business program on CNN Español from the New York Stock Exchange.
