This is a beginners course suitable for anyone who has never programmed a computer before or for people with some programming experience wanting to learn Python. No computer science degree needed!

The course will start on Monday October 17 6-8pm at Vancouver Hackerspace and will be 10 classes, one night per week with a break over the Christmas/New Year period, ending January 9. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated in advance.

We will start with an introduction to computer programming, installing the Python language, and then cover different topics each class including Variables, Expressions, User Input, Conditional Execution, Functions, Loops and iteration, Strings, Files, Lists, Dictionaries, and Tuples.

Python is a popular, general-purpose programming language.- Easy to learn- Powerful- Versatile- Interactive- Efficient- Runs on most computers- Open source- Free to use!

It will be a hands-on course and participants will be expected to bring their own laptop (PC, Windows, Linux, or Raspberry Pi) and follow along with exercises during the class.

Open to all ages. However, minors must be accompanied by an adult.
