Join us at the new Microsoft office in a panel discussion with 5 successful entrepreneurs that have innovated outside of their home countries.
They will talk about the challenges and benefits of getting out of the comfort zone and exploring the world while moving forward with their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Fred Rego

He started his career in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil working at Accenture Technology and 3 high-tech start-ups before moving to Vancouver with a job at a medical software development company.

Julia Vorontsova
The founder of Kakadu Media, a full service video production and marketing platform for North American Businesses. She has over seven years’ experience in the marketing industry. Currently teaching video marketing at Langara, she learned video SEO from top industry experts in California and was awarded the Local Video Marketer competition prize as the most improved local video marketer in 2015.
Julia has worked on projects in both China and Canada for small to medium-sized businesses. She has an MA from UBC in cognitive science and Asian studies and has researched conceptual metaphors, focusing on their use in successful national and international advertising. She is fluent in four languages, including Mandarin and Ukrainian, and is passionate about socially responsible advertising.

Oscar Malpica
Innovation and change management professional with multi-industry experience in business strategy, innovation management, R&D and technology consulting, and digital storytelling. Founder & CEO of one of the first innovation consulting firms in Vancouver, Envisioning Labs. Oscar has been involved in a myriad of roles throughout his career from leading innovation teams at Microsoft to establishing commercial links between Canada and China at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, to overseeing Marketing & Communication efforts for a multinational manufacturer headquartered in Oslo to working on projects for the United Nations Volunteers in Burkina Faso.
Oscar was born in Mexico, grew up in Toronto and lived in Asia for 10 years. He holds a Master's of Applied Science from the University of Toronto.

Estela is a Mexican-Canadian accountant professional with 18 years of international accounting experience in Mexico, Canada and USA and travel adviser in travel agencies in Malaysia and Canada. After years of working in the corporate world, Estela decided to embrace her dream of working office-independent and have a group of like-minded people joining her in this dream.
She is now the Founder and CEO of B-Digital Nomads, a company that offers programs for digital workers to live and travel around the world for up to a year while exploring and making a difference in local communities.
