- The Simple Magic of "Go To Special" | Alison PollecuttLink visible for attendees
SESSION TRACK:
ExcelSESSION OUTLINE:
“Go To Special” is a tool that you might easily miss amongst the many other options on the Excel ribbon. Let’s face it, what does “Go To Special” even mean? Well, spreadsheet enthusiast Alison Pollecutt is willing to bet that there are things you have already done manually that “Go To Special” could help you do a lot quicker.Imagine this scenario: You’re checking a spreadsheet for errors and want to find all the cells with constants, in case someone has unhelpfully typed over a formula with a number. Maybe you’re trying to spot any inconsistencies hidden in plain sight? Or you’ve got to update all your formulas but they are in cells that are not next to each other so the “copy and paste” approach is one formula at a time.
“Go To Special” can help with all of these and more. It may not be the most flashy Excel tool but, when you know what’s possible, you’ll love its simple magic.
SPEAKER PROFILE:
Alison Pollecutt has over 30 years of experience working with spreadsheets. She is a big fan of showing people how spreadsheets can make mundane and repetitive tasks faster and less error prone. After all, less time wrangling data means more time being able to understand what it’s telling us.What makes her happy? When someone who thought they hated Excel suddenly realises how much easier their life could be with the RIGHT spreadsheet. And her best quick tip? Type today’s date into your spreadsheet using just Ctrl and semi colon.
