Deep Dive into Power BI Paginated Reports using Power BI Datasets | Pav Chana

SESSION TRACK: Power BI SESSION OUTLINE: Joseph Yeates will start off the evening by showing us some of the latest updates and new features in Power BI. Next, Parv Chana will be leading us through a deep dive into Paginated reports in Power BI. Paginated reports are designed to be printed or shared. They're called paginated because they're formatted to fit well on a page. They display all the data in a table, even if the table spans multiple pages. They're also called pixel perfect because you can control their report page layout exactly. Currently, Paginated reports are Premium only features which make it expensive for companies to use. However, with upcoming changes with Premium Per User license, it will be affordable and a lot of companies will be able to take advantage of it. In this meetup, you will learn how to effectively use the Power BI dataset in Power Paginated Reports to use a single source of the dataset for your analytical and operational/pixel-perfect reports. Also, we will talk about how to create cascaded parameters, date parameters, use Paginated Reports to export large data from Power BI reports, and many other tips and tricks. SPEAKER PROFILE: Parvinder Chana is a BI Consultant and Architect with over 20 years of industry experience. DAX Formulas in Excel | Howie Dickerman

Online event

SESSION TRACK: Excel SESSION OUTLINE: In this presentation, Howie Dickerman from the Excel Team will provide an overview of the DAX expression language in Excel. It will include examples of commonly used patterns for DAX measures in Power Pivot. While the focus and examples will show DAX being used in Excel data models, much of the content is also applicable to authoring calculated columns and measures in Power BI datasets, given that Excel data models and Power BI datasets are both Analysis Services tabular databases. SPEAKER PROFILE: Howie Dickerman is a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft on the Excel product team who has been focused on Excel’s integration with Analysis Services databases for the past 17 years. He started out as a member of the Excel team, designing CUBE functions in Excel; then as a member of the Analysis Services team, working on design of the DAX expression language; and then returning to the Excel product team where he currently works on PivotTables and Power Pivot as part of the Excel BI team.
