##About Speakers:
Ishadi Jayasinghe is an MSc research student from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Her research contribution focuses on applying deep learning in low-resource domains. She designed an enhanced version of memory networks optimized for low resource domains (to be published by SOFSEM 2020). She has also worked on applicability of language in GANs for data augmentation tasks in low resource domains (to be published in SLAAI 2019). Currently, she working on designing a neural spell checker for Sinhala, one of the main languages of Sri Lanka.
Fatemehsadat Mireshghallah ia a 2nd year CS Ph.D. student at UC San Diego with a B.Sc. in CSE with honors from Sharif University of Technology (Iran) in 2018. She works at the intersection of ML and Systems Privacy and applies self-supervision and variational inference to find distributions of noise that can best protect the sensitive content in data. She has presented her work at the SPML and PriML workshops in ICML19 and NeurIPS19, and has recently been accepted to ACM's ASPLOS20. Website: http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/~fmireshg/
Meghana Moorthy: Meghana is a Ph.D student at Ohio State University supervised by Prof. Srinivasan Parthasarathy. Last summer, she was a research intern at MILA under Prof.Laurent Charlin. Previously, she graduated with a master at UW-Madison. Her research interests are in NLP, Information Retrieval and graphical models.
Olga Vitek: Dr. Olga Vitek's research explores synergies between statistical science and ML, applied to problems in analytical chemistry & systems biology. Her group designs experiments and analyzes data from investigations using mass spectrometry & molecular imaging to understand the functioning of living organisms. They contribute methods and open-source software including MSstats (relative quantification of proteins in mass spectrometric experiments), Cardinal (analyzing mass spectrometric images) and matter (memory-efficient reading, and manipulation of binary, larger-than-memory datasets in complex formats.)
Ioana Baldini: She a Research Staff Member at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in the IBM Research AI organization. She is currently working on systems and tools that facilitate scientific discoveries. She is passionate about projects for Social Good and participates as a mentor in the Science for Social Good program. She got her Masters and PhD from University of Toronto.
Annie Ying: Annie is a leader in data science with over a decade of industry experience spanning corporate research and startups. Currently, she is the manager of the Cisco Data Science Lab in Vancouver. Coming from a PhD in Computer Science from McGill, Annie is a former Research Scientist at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in New York and a two-time winner of an ACM Distinguished Paper Award (both in applying data science to software engineering) with five patents. Annie is active in the data science community as a Meetup organizer (Data Science for Social Good), speaker, and mentor.
