Our first meetup of the year features a talk by Malin Sundberg on UI testing, and we'd also like to feature 1-2 lightning talks! If you'd be up for a 5 minute talk on a problem, a bug, a project, or a story, get in touch!
Doors are at 6:30pm, and talks will start at 7pm. Due to security requirements at VFS, we can't admit folks once the talks start, so doors close at 7pm.
1. Lightning talk: Allen Pike, Steamclock

Malin Sundberg: Unit tests' less popular sibling, UI tests
"Testing is not everyone’s strong suit, and many of us are even less experienced in writing UI tests. As our app’s UI gets more and more complex, many of us still tend to focus our testing efforts on logic exclusively. To some extent, we may rely on manual regression testing processes to detect UI bugs. Although manual testing is helpful before a release, wouldn’t it be great if we can detect UI bugs earlier on in the same way as we detect issues in our business logic through unit testing?
This talk goes through how an app can benefit from UI tests, when it’s a good time to start adding these tests, how we all can get started implementing these UI tests – including tips and tricks for adding UI tests to more complex apps."
The event is at the VFS animation campus across from Woodward's, located at 151 West Cordova Street, in Theatre 105.
