As instructional and eLearning designers, there are a variety of projects and different types of work we undertake. We wear many hats! One of them, is the role of a freelancer -- operating as owners of our own business, or employed by organizations as contractors and consultants.

This week we delve into the world of consultants. Hear from 3 practitioners in the industry, each with different pathways, experience and insights.

Aligning your work to strategy is important, but what if your clients are hazy on their future plans? Stella investigates and shares with us several case studies, and her insights on how to keep an organization's vision clear.

AGUSTIN DEL VENTO: "The learning professional as a change manager"
Today, the learning professional has many transferable skills, one of the most impactful ones, is that of a change manager. Hear Agustin's perspective, on how our unique and widely varied skill sets can be flexed into different business pathways.

KATIE COX: "The life of a remote worker"
Although employed as a permanent employee at the time, Katie worked from home for 3 years as a remote worker. Here, she shares with us the ups and downs of remote working. Hear her tips for staying focused, connected to her workmates and most importantly, staying sane....

SPEAKER BIOS

Dr. Stella Lee (www.paradoxlearning.com) has over 18 years of progressive experience internationally in consulting, planning, designing, implementing, and measuring learning initiatives. Today her focus is on large scale learning projects including enterprise-wide e-learning strategy and governance, learning management system (LMS) evaluation and implementation, educational software development, and learning analytics. She is passionate about augmenting technologies to optimize human potentials.

Agustin Del Vento is the Director of Change Champions Consulting Inc. (www.changechampionsconsulting.com), a change management consulting firm based in Vancouver. Before founding Change Champions, Agustin worked as a management consultant at Accenture and Deloitte leading change management teams. Today, Agustin is enjoying growing Change Champions (to now a team of 12 consultants) and supporting some of Canada’s largest organizations in their journey to digital transformation.

Katie Cox is an instructional designer who is currently working for a software company in Vancouver. Being involved in the e-learning space and instructional design for the past 5 years, Katie is passionate about creating engaging training content that is fun but also impactful and relevant. She is near completing her Masters of Educational Technology.
