Halloween... is it possible to speak to the dead???

Hi to those in the Vancouver Science and Religion discussion group.

Our topic on Sun. [masked] is "Thoughts on Halloween" at 6:00 pm at Peoples Church in Vancouver. All details are here:

To spark some interest, I thought I'd write about a few topics.

Some people claim to be able to communicate with deceased people... their spirits. In this video, mentalist/magician Derren Brown (famous in Britain) exposes how it is done. Some of the mediums who do this may think they really are for real (seld-deceived)... but that's hard to imagine. Derren explains in another video elsewhere that it is really a language game... fishing around for confirmations on guesses, then pretending when the person tells you something that it is what you meant in the first place. They want to believe so badly they'll grab at anything. They are emotially weak, and these emotionally weak people are taken advantage of, by the mediums who get paid for this trickery.
