[masked] debate is now online & other misc. news

For the Westside Discussion group:

On[masked] Dennis Marcellino and I had a debate/discussion on "Are we a spirit in a body... or just a body?"  It is now online, for free viewing:

Our next event is again at Evergreen Presbyterian Church, on the topic of morality, on Tue. [masked].  I'll moderate it, and Pastor Nathan will represent a Christian viewpoint, and Tom Gebhardt (former Christian, now atheist) will represent an atheistic viewpoint.  All details are here:

I also listed an event at Portland State University, by a philosophy professor (Peter Boghossian) with the topic “Jesus, the Easter Bunny, and Other Delusions: Just Say No!”  It is a speech hostile to Christian faith; however, the professor says he welcomes critical feedback from believers.  I have some Christian friends who are evangelists and apologists and they are interested in attending.  The professor recently held a similar presentation at PSU, and the crowd was standing-room only.  All details are here:

I can also list Christian events, if they are open to critical feedback from the audience.  Please forward any such events to me.

For the Vancouver group:

There will be a mock debate on Sun. [masked].  The topic is about whether the God of the Bible (not just any God) can be proven to not exist.  Although I'm an atheist, I will play the part of a Christian, as I believed in 2009 and considered evangelical Christian and author Prof. Denis Lamoureux as a role model.  I will represent the views of Prof. Lamoureux as best I can.  Dr. Lamoureux is author of "Evolutionary Creationism."  My opponent will be atheist Justin Rose, who is also a former Christian.  Justin attends local CFI, etc. gatherings, so if you are a local atheist/agnostic, you may have met him.  All details are here:

PS: Happy New Year to all!
