Veg Comm January Potluck: New Year, New Recipe!
The January Veg Comm Potluck will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, the 27th at the Thrive Gym, 2205 East Grantview Drive. Some of you may recall that the Thrive Gym was previously located by the HyVee in Coralville. They're in a bright, new facility now--with state-of-the-art everything! Owners Bruce and Erin Elgin will give a tour of their new digs. (They're located in the lower level of the building where we used to have out potlucks, the Sanctuary Church.) We'll begin the evening as usual with our potluck. Since this is our first meeting of the new year, everyone is encouraged to bring a new recipe. This is your opportunity to try one that's been on your 'to do' list but haven't. We'll give feedback about the recipes. Please bring along a printed copy to display with your dish. The main event, though will be Bruce's program, a cooking class of plant-based recipes. Their new facility includes a brand new kitchen and classroom! Please bring: - A never-before-tried vegan dish. The yield should be in the range of 8 or more servings. As usual, our potlucks are 100% vegan so that everyone can enjoy all the food offerings, (You don’t have to be vegan when you participate in our gatherings, but we would like for you to ‘eat vegan’ when you are with us.) - Your own reusable/recyclable table service - A monetary gift to support the MeetUp website subscription Your friends are always welcome at all Veg Comm events, including non-veg friends who are interested in learning about our lifestyle. Children are welcome as well. If transportation to any of our events is a challenge for you, let me know. It's likely one of our participants lives nearby and will be happy to pick you up and take you home. We respectfully request that all participants assist with cleanup before leaving our events. Let me know if you have questions. Carol Throckmorton (319) 337-3030
