Presentation: The Complete Arroyo Seco by Leor Pantilat

Details

Amid the most rugged terrain in Monterey County's Santa Lucia Mountains, pristine springs feed crystal-clear streams. Descending and gaining momentum, streams converge into a mighty river, carving deeply into flanks of the range's highest peak on a sinuous journey toward Salinas Valley. Churning through steep gorges intersected by a single trail, the river abruptly emerges to sandy shores at Arroyo Seco Day Use Area.

The Ventana Wilderness Alliance (VWA) and Patagonia, in partnership with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, invite you to a celebration of this wild river. Adventure runner Leor Pantilat will share his experiences hiking and swimming the Arroyo Seco from its headwaters in the Ventana Wilderness to the Day Use Area far downstream.

This event is free but bring dollars as there will be a food truck outside, beers by Alvarado Street Brewery, and a raffle. This is a great opportunity to learn how VWA, Leave No Trace, and Patagonia are teaming up to teach people how to keep the Arroyo Seco wild, clean, and free of human-caused fire.
