Big Sur Trail- Two Night Backpack to Mocho Camp

The coastal side of the Big Sur Trail needs work. On this trip we will focus on the section between Cisco Creek and Mocho Creek removing encroaching brush and restore tread. We'll base at Mocho Creek at a use camp with space for many tents.

WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a three-day backpack trail crew trip. We will carry brush and tread tools four miles to our camp/work site. Beginner to expert skills are welcome. Tools and instruction provided for brushing/tread work. The work location has POISON OAK. Long sleeves and long pants are recommended even for the hike in.

Let's meet at the 10 min parking spaces. Once gathered, we'll caravan out to the trail head. As we will be driving through locked gates, there is no option for partial participation. Please contact me via Meet-up messaging if you have questions.

WHAT TO BRING:
This is a three-day backpack to a remote location in the Ventana Wilderness. Please bring what you need to be self-sufficient for the duration of the trip AND:
- ALL FOOD for 3 days/2 nights
- TECHNU or other treatment for PO exposure
- sturdy work clothes with long sleeved shirts and long pants and sturdy footwear
- a daypack to carry your water and lunches for each day. Bring enough containers to carry a minimum of 3 liters. We hike to our camp, and set up, and you can filter water before we start work for the day
- and the little things that will make you comfortable and happy while we are there
We will camp near Mocho Creek so water is plentiful. Please bring appropriate treatment.
Your favorite work gloves, safety glasses, loppers, hand saw and hard hat if you have them; otherwise tools and hardhats will be provided.
A tent if rain is forecast. Heavy rain or snow cancels.
