Abstract:
Want Jedi like leadership & success without a lightsaber? Or, do you simply wish you could persuade stormtroopers these are not the 'droids they're looking for? Could you SEE a benefit in CLEARLY communicating 5x more effectively?

The effectiveness of Agile approaches are built on Influence rather than Authority. Practices like co-location and standups actually amplify influence, leveraging behavior patterns built in to humans through biology and social conditions. Participants in this workshop will unpack some fundamental influence patterns and turn them into conscious tools for leadership. Through interactive and engaging exercises, you’ll amplify and practice your ability to Influence by quickly establishing and building Rapport via voice and physiology. You’ll even recognize how to break Rapport (helpful when pulling discussions out of ratholes) as well as how to use these tools to lead Teams and individuals. All while having fun.

Come learn some simple, yet subtle techniques to shift communication effectiveness by a factor of 5 or more. And while participants are advised away from initial use with stormtroopers, any VCs, executives or clients are fair game.

Speaker Bio:
Bernie’s career started with a flash and a bang. Literally. His first position was designing devices that protect telephone networks from lightning strikes. A few career pivots later, he had a flash of insight: it was possible to tap into latent potential in every person, every team, and every organization.

The teams he’s worked with have grown businesses to beyond $100 million, delivering products from consumer electronics to network infrastructure to services & payments at firms including TiVo, Cisco, Wells Fargo and more. He’s also a Certified Scrum Trainer® teaching private and public workshops (now online too!), including Agile Product Development and Agile Leadership at Stanford Continuing Studies.
