What we're about
We typically meet on every Thursday evening, though we may have meetings on other nights. Our usual venue is Starbucks (second floor of Chapters, downtown) but we also use the Atrium (next to the Habit coffee shop, downtown) or the Bent Mast pub.
· The first Thursday of each month is reserved for a Meet-n-Greet. Here we announce group business and then open it up for general discussion and to welcome new members. This is an informal means of getting to know each other and provide support for all members.
· The second Thursday of each month is our ‘main event’. This may be a presentation or a workshop of some kind. Presentation topics have included: dealing with writer’s block, how to write an erotic scene, dialogue, issues over POV, traditional versus self-publishing, and many others. The more popular presentation topics will be moved to the Bent Mast pub (which has twice the capacity of Chapters) on a Monday evening.
· The week of the third Thursday of each month is left fallow for subgroups. Here we break into subgroups to give feedback and encouragement on our respective writing projects or discuss a niche topic. We sometimes schedule a general ‘hanging out’ session on the same night for those not currently in a subgroup.
· On the fourth Thursday of each month, we have something interactive. We alternate, either a Show-n-Tell or a Write In. At a Show-n-Tell, people are invited to read a short piece (approx. 500 words), and allow their 'readers' to engage in some impromptu critiquing. At a Write In, we hang and try and write something (no prompts).

Currently, the Management Team is: Peter T (Organiser), Peter Ehm (Co-Organiser), Deborah (Assistant Organiser), and Susan Hayes (Assistant Organiser).
Note that Event Organisers are not part of the Management Team, but for an event (and related online interactions), the designated Event Host is a proxy for the Management Team.
