Stream Weaver, creating redundancy in HLS
Paul Jones, Senior dev at Cheddar
Ross Cooperman, CTO at Cheddar
Loom is a small go program designed to interleave HLS manifests. This interleaving creates a stream that is resilient to encoder failure. We have had no unplanned outages related to encoder failures since launching loom.
Device-side delivery intelligence: rethinking the modern video CDN with client-side load balancing
Pierre-Louis Théron, CEO at Streamroot
Growing audiences, higher resolutions and more immersive video bring both technical and business challenges. It is becoming increasingly difficult to deliver high quality to millions of viewers worldwide, especially when high-profile live events are concerned. To improve redundancy and QoE, more and more broadcasters are turning into multi-CDN strategies. However, with a multiplying number of devices, networks and geographies to manage, traditional server-side delivery provides an insufficient perspective if we hope to guarantee optimal quality to every viewer. This talk presents client-side technologies that make the device an integral part of the video delivery workflow, and harness its intelligence to multi-source video streaming and customize delivery to every device.
