Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga (all levels) offers traditional yoga poses, including Sun Salutations, Downward Dog, and Warrior II. The instructor verbally guides practitioners through a series of poses, offering demonstration when appropriate. The practice begins with calming the mind and focusing on the breath. Attention is given to alignment, balance, and strength. The body is warmed up steadily. While yoga can improve flexibility, students do not have to be flexible to succeed in this class. Hatha Yoga is perfect for beginners and as well as for more experienced yogis.

Wednesdays, 6-7pm

All yoga classes are $11 for drop-ins or $70 for a 10-class punch card. For more info, contact Wells Therapeutics (757) 490-9488.

Instructor:

Sarah Gordon discovered her love for yoga while attending college in 2012. Through yoga, Sarah learned how to connect within herself and release stress. She feels grateful for the transformative influence of yoga and meditation in her life, and appreciates the opportunity to share her gifts with the community.

Sarah is a Registered Dietitian, practicing at an inpatient hospital in Hampton Roads. She’s especially devoted to her work with oncology patients, providing guidance and support to help then improve their quality of life through nutrition. She is also a founding member of “Beyond Field to Fork,” a program offering monthly sustainable community meals in the summer, with a focus on locally grown, seasonal fruits, and vegetables.

Sarah graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2014. She became a Registered Dietitian in 2015 after completing a Dietetic Internship through Iowa State University. Sarah completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2016 at River Yoga in Suffolk, Virginia.
