Tecate, Baja California is 45 minutes Southeast of Downtown San Diego via Old Highway 94 (Rural San Diego County) by the way of Rancho San Diego/Campo & I-188 to the Mexican border.
We have several traditional Mexican restaurants serving Antojitos and local BBQ from ribs to pig on a spit. We will also have different gourmet eateries and Bakeries with with your choices of Tecates famous sweet or savory breads and gourmet pastries. Cool off at one of our local pubs, cafes, wine rooms with a non and alcoholic beverage, artisan beer or national brands. We have variousvenues with entertainment that include musical groups, traditional Mexican or with a resident DJ with all the best music for all the family to dance to. FREE street parking in Tecate or paid parking before crossing the border.
If you decide to stay the night, we can help you with that. Our local police or storefronts can direct you to a hotel that fits your budget. Border crossing into Mexico is quick. Once in Tecate, Google Map works here and it will take you to your destination in minutes. The border crossing back to the U.S. can take from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes vs. the 3 hours via San Ysidro Crossing. If walking across the border, a taxi will be waiting for you and your family.
