What we're about

Welcome to Vistara Circle New York!

The first Vistara Circle gathering took place on the East Coast during a full moon in May 2017. It was an auspicious occasion because not only was it the inaugural event, it was also the birthday of Lord Buddha and other yogi icons. Since then, our meetings have been truly special and all because people like you took the time to join us. Thank you in advance for your presence and for coming to our collective meditation circles.

Vistara Circle has chapters across the country and the time has come to bring it to the West Coast. We currently meet once a week in Plainview, NY, on Sundays. Though activities may vary, our gatherings mainly involve giving meditation instruction, kirtan (devotional chanting/singing), silent meditation, discussion, and a vegetarian potluck dinner. We also organize retreats, social outings, yoga trainings, courses, seminars, and webinars. The style of meditation and yoga that we practice is called Tantra. Tantra is a spiritual tradition that originated in India 7,000 years ago and was first systematized by the ancient guru, Shiva. It emphasizes the development of human vigor, both through meditation and through confrontation of difficult external situations. It's a method of overcoming all fears and weaknesses.

We are offer multiple online meditation sessions through the week to respond to the Coronavirus situation, and to provide an uplifting experience to everyone who tune in, on Facebook and Youtube. Register here to get notifications via email of the scheduled live events:

Sunday Evening Online Meditation and Personal Development

Join us every Sunday night for an Online Meditation using the millennial old technique of Tantric meditation, followed by a discussion on personal-development and application of mindfulness to the everyday.

We would normally have in-person meditation sessions, but are currently conducting them online owing to the COVID-19 outbreak in the world.

Every week, we will do some spiritual singing, followed by a virtual group meditation, followed by a reading of the topic of the week. The topics for every week are chosen in advance, and are related to personal development and mindfulness.

I hope our New York community can join us in this weekly session and start the week with a positive outlook.

The online location until after the current COVID-19 situation is:
