🗣️Ralph Drewnowski @drewno_design - Senior User Experience Designer, Kainos
*Looking Under the Hood: Using Voice Enabled Technology for the Roadworthiness Tests*
As voice assistants become more reliable, they can meet more user needs. If designed mindfully, they can be a powerful assistive technology and bring the world to people with different accessibility needs. In a spirit of inclusive design Ralph will explain how voice UI might improve user experience. He will cover a bit of theory and a lot of practice.
Ralph is a user experience explorer and designer. He is passionate about inclusive design and building services accessible for everybody, regardless of their abilities. Having worked with governments in Poland and United Kingdom, he’s advocating for complex systems to work in favour of humans, not the other way round. He’s a fan of industrial revolution and steampunk.
🗣️Tom Walker @WalkerUXRanger - Lead User Researcher, Co-op Digital
🗣️Jamie Kane @JmeKane User Researcher at Co-op Digital
*Designing a Voice Interface for Embalmers*
An embalming suite is not your everyday research location but it’s also oddly a great place to use voice assistants as will be explained in this talk.
In this open and honest talk, Jamie and Tom will take you through their design process for creating voice interfaces and share with you what they’ve learnt and the mistakes they’ve made along the way.
Jamie is a User Researcher at Co-op Digital and a recent graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University.
Tom is a Lead User Researcher at Co-op Digital. He first started designing and researching voice interfaces back in 2017 at BBC UX&D. More recently he's been leading research on the multi-award-winning Guardian system for Co-op Funeralcare.
🗣️Tallulah Berry @TallulahBerry - Producer, BBC Voice + AI
*The Story Behind Interactive BBC News*
Tallulah will talk you through the BBC’s brand new interactive news service, the first of its kind in the UK. She will explain how it works and share some key learnings on the road to launch.
Tallulah Berry is a producer exploring news innovation in the BBC’s Voice + AI department. In her former life she worked as a senior journalist reporting and presenting on a number of radio and TV programmes.
🗣️Paul Jackson @madebymagnolia - Senior UX Designer, BBC Voice + AI
*What's My Again Again? World-first Interactive Radio*
Described as "so clever it's the future" by Radio 1 presenter Greg James, Paul Jackson will share the story behind the very first radio quiz that you can play along with using a smart speaker.
Paul Jackson is a designer on the BBC's Voice + AI team. He has been designing, prototyping and building digital products for over 15 years, counting Disney, Honda and Nintendo amongst his previous clients.
