Helping children with special needs at Shoreline Lake on May 25th (Sat)

Paddle4Good's free, inclusive, 1/2 day PaddleTogether event will serve 40 children with special needs with your assistance. We’ll help the children SUP, kayak, peddle-boat, play lawn games, & more. We'll have skilled water teams to safely take the children paddling. It’s **not necessary** to have any prior experience to help. Each child is paired with a buddy for the event -- ideal for adults, teens, families, & work groups – it’s a fun & easy way to make a huge difference volunteering. Please register on our site to help us with logistics. https://paddle4good.org/paddletogether While the kids we serve have an amazing time building confidence & self-esteem by doing things they may have never thought possible, we also hear from volunteers that the experience had a profound impact on them as well. The basic schedule as is as follows: 8-9am – event setup & volunteer safety orientations 9-9:30am – participant registration / welcome & safety orientation 10am-12pm – guided water activities (kayaking, SUP, peddle boats) & lawn games 12pm-12:30pm lunch (pizza) 12:30-1pm – awards ceremony & participant goodbye 1pm-1:30pm – event teardown You'll also get the opportunity at the event to empower yourself with hands-only CPR through our 5-10 minute Help-a-Heart CPR program. Thanks again for stepping up in your community – we hope to see you on the 25th! We also hope you plan to join us on Sept 7th (Sat), Sept 8th (Sun), & Oct 4th (Fri) at Shoreline as we do the same basic event. All the best, the Team at Paddle4Good https://paddle4good.org

Mentor a Foster Child! Become a CASA Volunteer
Needs a date and time

Needs a location

As a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer, you are a child’s friend, mentor and advocate. You will spend time with a foster child once a week taking them to the park, helping with homework, and become a part of their life. You will help them build trust and reach their full potential. As a CASA volunteer, you ensure a child doesn't have to navigate the foster care system alone, that a child doesn't fall through the cracks. CASA of San Mateo County partners adult volunteers with children who have come under the court’s protection because their parents can’t or won’t take care of them. Be someone a child can count on. Join our team! You can make a profound difference in a child’s life. Currently there are over 150 children in San Mateo County waiting for a CASA volunteer, like you. The first step to become a CASA volunteer is to attend an orientation. Spring 2015 orientation dates: March 26, April 7 Orientation and training schedules are posted at www.CASAofSanMateo.org Call[masked] or email [masked] to register for an orientation. All welcome to apply. In critical need of male volunteers.

Share a love of science & nature with Silicon Valley kids!

Share your love of science and nature! For 40 years, the Environmental Volunteers have been teaching school children in their classrooms and local nature preserves about the natural world. This is a great opportunity for learning about your local area and gaining great skills for the future, not to mention having fun! Using innovative teaching materials, our volunteers teach children about Bay Area environments and local ecosystems. Our requirements are simple; all volunteers need is a love of children, nature, and learning! We have an active and diverse team of volunteers so it's a great way to make new friends. We hold training in the fall and in the spring, or on demand for a group of 8 or more keen volunteers. If you want to know more about becoming a part of the EV community, please contact Nikki, our Volunteer Coordinator, at (650)[masked] or email [masked]. We look forward to hearing from you!
