We are a community choir formed in 2004 with the aim of fostering a group of friends who get together for the purpose of learning, and enjoying choral music.
From a simple group of diverse musical background, we’ve come together to explore and stretch our abilities in music making through numerous performances and a constant journey of learning.
Vox Camerata Community Choir is a non-auditioned choir. We welcome anyone who is keen to make good music and try new things, regardless of musical background and experience. The current choir includes people of all ages, from all walks of life, and from all over the world. We rehearse on Saturday afternoons.
We are looking for singers! Come join us for a journey of music!
Come sing with us. Then, if you like it, some logistics to note:
-We do expect a certain level of commitment for people joining us - not every rehearsal, of course, but most, if you are planning to sing in an upcoming concert. You always have the option of singing for one concert and not the next, if you are pressed for time and making the majority of rehearsals is tough. We have plenty of members who have come and gone and come back again :)
-We ask members to pay a small membership fee/dues each quarter, to help cover the cost of our rental space and concert admin.
-Our next meet up for new members is in January, as we're currently midway through our caroling season. But you can come see / hear us at any of our caroling sessions, or at our concert on Jan 20!
This July, Vox Camerata celebrates our 15th anniversary with Musica Intimae: The Passing Of The Year. ✨
As we take a look back at the love, hope and passion that continue to drive us, Vox Camerata invites everyone to an evening of purpose, meaning, and reflection, where we can bear witness to the shifts and seasonal transformations of a year’s passing through the medium of song.
Beginning with Jonathan Dove's dynamic arrangement of "The Passing of the Year” with pianists Ong Seng Choo and Tan Loon Tze, this year's concert will explore the transcendental duel between hope and despair that the passage of time brings through masterpieces from past and present ranging from Stopford's heart-wrenching lullaby "Lully Lulla Lullay" and Arvo Pärt's ethereal "Magnificat", to Samuel Barber's sombre and dissonant "Twelfth Night".
In line with Vox Camerata's belief in building a community through choral music, this year's concert will also feature guest performers that reflect the diversity and dynamism of Singapore's choral scene: NUS Society Choir, NUS High School Choir, Queensway Secondary School Choir, Punggol Secondary School Choir and Bedok South Secondary School Choir.
