What we're about

In May 2014, WATT relaunched as a community that encourages women in technology to be fearless as they advance their careers, providing education, inspiration, guidance and connections to career opportunities. Mission: To encourage women to be fearless in sharing their unique perspectives and talents To encourage more women and girls to enter and advance to leadership roles in technology related fields To encourage companies to intentionally hire for gender balance. To change the status quo through education, collaboration and inclusion To positively impact our communities, organizations and global society by bringing a more diverse, balanced perspective to products, services and policies.

While we are still in our infancy, we already have over 200 actively engaged WATTs distributed across multiple social media channels and internationally. Join the conversation and find more resources on FB, LinkedIn, Twitter (@watt_empower) Google +.

We encourage men who believe in the benefits of gender balance and "whole-brain thinking" to participate as well, although there may be some activities that we reserve for just the ladies ;-).

Monthly events include:

Mentor Meetups - Here unique perspectives from experienced Women in Tech on topics that matter to you. Most will be face-to-face and broadcast as a webinar for greater participation. They will also be recorded (when possible) for later viewing.

Career Connections Networking Events - On 3rd Wednesdays of the month, we'll meet to share job, training and professional development opportunities. These meetups can be simple Happy Hours or other activities where the group has an interest.

Education/Training - WATT will host organic education on Communications, Negotiations, Business Skills; We will also open up our calendar to share other technical training opportunities offered through universities, professional organizations, or other Meetup groups.

Smaller coaching groups - Meet with 6-8 other WATTs to discuss challenges and opportunities for career development. Multiple sub-groups can be formed for those:

1)In-Transition or Re-entering the Workforce,

2)Re-energizing/Re-directing at Mid-Career,

3) Young Women Entering the Workforce;

4) Moving Entrepreneurs/Self-employed from Sustaining to Thriving
