We are headed to one of the groups favorite hiking destinations - Yellow Springs, OH. Join us for a weekend of camping, hiking, town visits & exploration. John Bryan State Park is FULL so I found a private camp site area that will host our group. A little about the campsite:
- a 1 acre private site with a "cabin" (actually a storage shed) with some bathroom facilities, no electric - not sure about running water. It backs up to a 13-acre green space, quiet, no neighbors or roads near by. It is 1.5 miles from the town of Yellow Springs. Think of this as backcountry camping with a shelter if the weather goes south. We will probably do some cooking at the site, but will also go to town for a special meal & entertainment.
A little about Yellow Springs. This is a great, artistic small town with a laid back, hippie vibe. If you've never been, you should go. There are awesome restaurants, art galleries, a brewery & more.
A little about the hiking. There is Glen Helen Nature Preserve, Clifton Gorge & Inman Trail (where the infamous yellow spring can be found). We hope to do as much as we can. There are rivers & waterfalls throughout the area.
Camp will have bonfires & star gazing at night. Plan on being self sufficient with tent & needs. There is no shower on site, but maybe we can rig a solar shower?
Cost - we will share in the cost of the tent site - it is looking like about $50/pp but it may go down depending on how many people RSVP. The host said he would "work with us on the price", whatever that means.
I will disclose the actual location once I confirm the headcount with the host - and I have commitment for attendance from the group. Not sure about pets - so plan on leaving your fur baby at home, please.
