What we're about

We come together to practice mindfulness in order to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness and contribute to building a healthier and a more compassionate society.
We aim to experience joy and ease in our pursuits, keeping it real with the laughter, sanity, and friendship that bloom from practicing mindfulness together.

Wake Up is an active global community of young mindfulness practitioners, aged 18-35+, inspired by the teachings of Zen Master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh.
We host a weekly peer-facilitated meeting for young adults in their 20s and 30s looking into mindfulness.

Dear friend,

We are a group of young adults (35 and under) practicing mindfulness in the Plum Village tradition, which was founded by the late Vietnamese Zen Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh. Our community (AKA Sangha) is called Wake Up SF.

Every Sunday at 11:00 AM, we meet at Precita Park to practice mindfulness together. Each meeting is facilitated by one or more community members. The typical schedule is as follows, with buffer time in between in each activity:

  • 15 mins people arriving, introductions
  • 20 minutes sitting meditation
  • 10 min walking meditation
  • 15 min reading
  • 30 min sharing circle

After we close Sangha, many people stay for a picnic style lunch in the park, which is great for nourishing our connection and joy.

You're welcome to join our community!

This is a completely free event. We are looking forward to practicing together with you!
