What we're about

This group is for animal lovers who want to improve their own and their pets' health through walking. We want to encourage pet owners (yes, cat owners, too!) to get out and exercise. Our intention is to meet new animal loving friends and have fun enjoying the outdoors.

It is NOT necessary to bring a dog, just that you be willing to walk with them!

Valley Forge Park River Trail (Pawlings Rd)

Schuylkill River Trail Pawlings Road Trailhead

Directions: From the intersection of Egypt Road and Park Ave./Pawlings Road, proceed on Pawlings Road heading towards the Schuylkill River. You will pass Mill Grove on your right, St. Gabriel Hall on your left and Pawling Farm on your left. You are getting close when you pass Sullivan Blvd. on your left and Gertrude St. on your right. You turn left on the next and last left (right before you go over the bridge over the Schuylkill River). Look for the River Trail Valley Forge Park sign visible from Pawlings Road. The gravel parking lot is straight ahead and also visible from Pawlings Road. If you go over the bridge over the Schuylkill River, you have gone too far and are now in Chester county.

This walk goes out about 1.5 miles along the Schuylkill River and then we come back the way we came, for a total of 3 miles. This is a dirt/gravel/mulch trail through the woods.

Start Time: Arrive a few minutes early. We will start hiking promptly at the scheduled time.

Duration of the walk – depends on the people and dogs in the group. We frequently end up walking in smaller packs based on the comfort level of the participants.

In the past this walk takes a little over an hour.

Please remember pooh bags and that your dog must be on a leash that is no more than 10 feet long. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Dress appropriately for weather conditions.
