Alexander Pope's satirical poem The Dunciad was written in three versions between 1728 and 1743. The poem highlights stupidity, tastelessness and decay affecting London at the time. The walk will visit some of the locations Pope mentioned in the text and discuss the historical background of early 18th century London that drove Pope to write the poem.
