What we're about

This group is for anyone who likes to get out walking but either doesn't have their own transport or would like to leave their car at home and enjoy a couple of drinks after the walk. This group is also aimed at people who may not work a traditional Monday to Friday job (shift workers, part time, those who are retired etc etc) and doesn't always have weekends free to get out and about.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly, supportive group (we like to have a laugh) and the walks are inclusive and open to anyone. Whether you are fighting fit or fighting to get fit, everyone looks out for everyone else however it is important that you are capable of walking the entire distance of each walk you RSVP to.

We are fine with dogs joining us on these walks however please make sure your dog is well behaved, under control and please be mindful that not everyone on the walks will be dog fans. Also be aware that we may plan to stop in pubs and cafes either en route or at the ends of walks not all of them will be dog friendly. If you are bringing your dog then just put a comment on the walk in question when you RSVP so people are aware - thank you.

The walks planned will be between 6 and 12 miles with the occasional longer walk. Walks will start and end at a railway station and either be circular or go between stations. There is usually a pub stop at the end of the walk and sometimes a cafe stop during the walk.

The start time of the walk will reflect the time that the person organising the walk can get to the railway station, if you are arriving by train please aim to get to the station within +/- 30 minutes of the start time. Let me know what time your train arrives when you RSVP. Please note that we organise the walks and not the public transport part, you are responsible for your train times, connections and train tickets.

Wear suitable walking attire (walks will be cancelled if the weather is terrible) and bring enough water and food to suit the length of walk and the weather. If you have RSVP'd 'yes' for a walk and can no longer make it please let us know. People who are 'no-shows' will be removed from the group. By 'no-show' we mean someone who has RSVP'ed YES to a walk and then does not tell us that they cannot make it and does not show up. It isn't fair on the people who have turned up to have to hang around and wait for someone who isn't going to show.
