Hello boys and ghouls. Naveen Pawar and I are looking to do an 11-mile loop at about 9:30 pace on a sunny Brisk Halloween morning from the Mighty Squirrel. The clockwise course leaves MQ: Right on Trapelo towards Mt Auburn, Right on Greenblough towards Arsenal, Right on Arsenal Street towards Watertown center, Follow Main street into Waltham, Right on Linden back to MQ. ****If you want to do the traditional Monday AM route we can meet up at 11, when the Brewery opens and be the first to embibe their Gourdgeous Pumpkin Ale. ***Costumes are not necessary, but welcome***
POST QUARANTINE UPDATE As of June 20, this run is back on a semi-permanent basis, subject to city of Waltham guidances regarding groups and distancing. Welcome to the Waltham Trail Runners beginner run. This run is for all experiences and pace levels. You have the option to run between 2 - 4 miles or even farther. We meet at the corner of Moody and Main St, on the Waltham Common. From there we will run the Charles river path, either towards Watertown or Newton. After you go the desired distance, double back along the river. Since it's an out and back we can spread out at different paces to accommodate beginner to advanced runners, but still start and finish together. Afterwards, we get coffee/goodies at Cafe on the Common and enjoy them on the Common. This is a great way to get into running, introduce your friends to the group, or just start your Saturday on a high note. All ages and levels welcome. If you are hesitating to come, keep in mind that nearly every week we have beginning runners who use a run/walk/run technique. If you take walk breaks you will probably not be alone, and it's the best way to get into running, so come on out!
A bunch of folks were talking about it last week, so we're going to give a group Peloton ride a shot for those who have one, or have rigged up their home trainers and bikes for it. We'll give it a whirl with the Live 30 minute "New Tracks" class currently scheduled for Sunday. Use the hashtag #wtr to find fellow group members, until we think of something far more wittier. If people want to meet up after via Zoom, I can always launch a room and post it in the comments for post-ride coffee / chit-chat If it works well, we can rotate leaders who can select live or on-demand rides at various times!
