What we're about

For over 10 years, the Waltham Trail Runners have been running the roads and trails of Waltham and surrounding communities. Whether you're a casual runner, a competitive racer or just starting out, our runs have something for everyone. We're a great group of people that like to get some miles in and have fun while doing it!

We're fortunate to have great running routes in Waltham, including paths and trails along the Charles River, Prospect Hill Park and the Western Greenway, and nice neighborhood routes in and around the area.

Runs are scheduled nearly every day and most runs allow for a wide range of paces and ability!

Mighty Monday

Needs a location

Got a case of the Mondays? Not to worry. This “Goldilocks” run, which starts and finishes at Mighty Squirrel Brewing Co., will cure it!

A 4-mile, all road, loop that’s not too easy and not too hard, but just right. Great beer, food, and company await to motivate you through to the finish.

We'll flip a coin to decide which direction to go. The "heads" direction is:

Mile 1: 125’ climb up Trap-elo
Mile 2: Rolling recovery mile
Mile 3: Nice and easy descent – or leg it out, the beer is near
Mile 4: Flat with a final kick up Mighty Squirrel Mountain

• This is an intermediate-level course for runners. An alternative mini-mighty course is relatively flat and can also be run - let the host or others know if you're interested.

• There's a broad range of paces (7 min/mi - 10 min/mi). If you're new to the group, we'll go around and introduce everyone so you can find who's best to run with.

• Follow @mightysqrl, on IG, to see what’s brewing as well as their food truck schedule.

• The course is adjacent to lots of trails. Be on the lookout for added miles pre-run miles - usually announced in that day's comments.

Meriam’s Corner Battle Road Run

Needs a location

Moving the run to 10AM for the summer at the request of a number of our regulars.
Plan is to run east along the Battle Road Trail with multiple distance options available. At least one group will typically do 4 miles but as an out and back run you can choose your distance by choosing when you turn around. Leashed pets welcome. All skill levels encouraged to join us. Please cancel your attendance if you aren’t going to be able to make it because we will wait for all who are signed up before we start the run.

Tuesday night Run / Walk

Location visible to members

We will meet outside of Jocos on the corner of Moody and Chestnut. Drinks at Joco’s after the run
Now that it's light when we run, we can head to the river and run along the river to Commonwealth Avenue. At Comm Ave, if you're not comfortable with the light, or want to keep the run to 4 miles, you can run down the carriage road and up Lexington Street as we do in the winter https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/4929406594/
If you'd like a 4.5 mile run, and are comfortable with the light, you can return the way you came. Many people also choose shorter options. We have consistently had a small group of walkers.

NOTE- Moody street will be closed ! Best option is to take Adams street to either Walnut or Chestnut street lot. There is free parking at the chestnut street lot after 6:00.

Prospect Hill 4 Miler

Needs a location

Join us for the return of the Prospect Hill Run!
6:30pm start time
There will be some Sun but bring a light!!

Meetup in the Jake n JOES / Starbucks parking lot. The course goes up Border Rd, then into Prospect Hill Park. From there, we'll pick up the PBR course on the Sunset Trail, take that to Little Prospect, then to Big Prospect, and back down the hill all the way back to Jake n JOES.

This run is HILLY and could be challenging for beginners, but all are welcome! The run is about 4 miles long and has over 450' of climb, with options to add more.

Post run, we'll either drive up Border Rd to Craft Food Hall Project or head into Jake n JOES.
