What we're about

Hello there, welcome to my hiking and outdoors community in London.

My name is Monica, the founder of Wanderlust Walks. I am a Norwegian living in London, but I do spend quite some time in Oslo throughout the year, and we now also have a Meetup group in Norway named Wanderlust Walks Oslo. This is a sister group to my original Wanderlust Walks in London, where we are over 6000 members. Some of my weekend trips are joint together between both groups, so by attending an event either in the U.K. or abroad, you might end up making new friends in Norway too. Pretty cool if you ask me.

You can check out my Oslo page in the link below to see what we have been up to: https://www.meetup.com/wanderlust-walks-oslo/

Okay, moving on.

Wanderlust Walks is all about mindful walking and hiking (and the occasional yoga, cycling, kayaking and skiing trip too) both in Norway, England / U.K., and other European countries. Here you´ll find space to breath and just be, and to appreciate nature as we move through it. My walks and hikes are never a race against time, and my aim is rather to foster a supportive community where well-being and social togetherness is at the forefront, and where we make time for conversations, photography, and to observe nature and wildlife. The latter we respect by staying on trails, and we keep nature clean by leaving no waste behind.

We have a great and diverse community of both international members as well as locals, and people from all walks of life are welcome to join any of my events as long as it suits your physical abilities. We are mainly speaking English, but I gladly speak Norwegian with those who prefer. So, if you are curious about this funny Viking language and would like to learn a word or two, then don't be afraid to walk up to the front of the group (where you´ll find me) and say hello.

I'll be doing both guided day hikes out and about on the English countryside, such as Kent, Surrey Hills, Chiltern Hills etc., in addition to overnight stays away from London, which gives an opportunity to escape the city and explore other sides to the U.K. I often publish my day hikes 1-2 weeks ahead of time to eliminate the chances of something unpredictable getting in the way. Remember to switch on your Meetup notifications if you wish to receive a heads up about new events as soon as I publish them.

A bit about me
I moved to London in 2015 and quickly realised how much I missed the Norwegian nature, and I would probably say that I am addicted to being outdoors - typical Norwegians right? I love to share this enthusiasm with other like minded people who also feel a sense of pure joy and euphoria when spending time outdoors. I am a firm believer in that nature holds the solution to a calm and balanced mind, and that either walking, cycling, running or just simply taking the time to sit still and be present outdoors can relieve stress and worries.

If you would like to see some pictures from our previous trips and events then tune in to my Instagram or Facebook account for a fresh breath of nature updates from me from time to time.

Upcoming trips in the planning
In the summer of 2022, we are arranging trips to both Lofoten and Oslo, where we will be kayaking and hiking, and watching the midnight sun from the beach, among many other things.

In addition to this, we also have a Hiking & Yoga trip to Valdres in Norway in June 2022, and I´ll soon be publishing a hiking trip to Italy in autumn where we shall be enjoying Italy's amazing food, wine and rolling hills.

Another hiking paradise of mine is the Lake District in Cumbria, England. A place we have been returning to several times. A new trip is due in late May 2022 just before the Bank Holiday weekend.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but in March 2020 we have also returned to Lofoten for our winter and Northern Lights trip which was a truly unforgettable experience which I hope to be able to repeat when time permits.

I hope some of my upcoming trips will trigger your wanderlust, and that you´d like to join me for a few days of guided hiking in our wondrous nature, together with like-minded people who share your passion for being outdoors.

I have added my contact details below; don't hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or just want to say hi. I'm always happy to chat.

Hope to see you out there!

This lodge is located in Ballstad, the central part of Lofoten, which has the most dramatic scenery. The fisherman´s lodges come with a private kitchen so that we can cook our own food.

Flight tickets - approx GBP 200+/- roundtrip Oslo - Harstad/Narvik (EVE). Tickets London - Oslo are many and varies in price.

On this trip we will also get to know Lofoten’s colorful fishing villages with the characteristic “rorbuer” (of which we will be staying in one), local handicrafts, food, and rich history that dates back to the Vikings.

The exact program for this lovely long-weekend will be planned closer to the time, with some of the activites being weather dependent. If you choose not to participate in the kayak trip, the fee of approx GBP 70 will be deducted from your total price.
