At last: Start Argentine Tango classes.

Details
At last Tango Warwick will have what many of you have been asking and waiting for: classes in Argentine Tango for new beginners. Our teachers Luis Rodrigues and Elizabeth Knock will be returning soon from Argentine and will start the classes on Friday February 11th at 6.30 pm in Leamington Spa.
These are classes in Argentine Tango as danced internationally from Buenos Aires to Beijing, via Lisbon, Berlin, Istanbul, Moscow, Hong Kong,... It is not Ballroom Tango and is quite different from it! It is primarily a social dance; eg see tango vals in Paris here
https://www.facebook.com/groups/647271378622582/permalink/5527948360554835/
- anybody who can tango who is passing by, with or without a partner, can join in.
It can be addictive.
***You do not need to come with a partner, and it is normal, and recommended, though of course not obligatory, to change partners frequently during the classes.
THE TEACHERS are our superb "resident" teachers: Luis Rodriguez and Elizabeth Knock. Their emphasis on elegance and musicality, and with dancing in possibly crowded social events in mind, has made them very popular.
They are based in London. See https://tangoynadamas.org for more about them. You will find many links to videos of them there. If you want to see more of the sort of dancing we do, here are some links to performances by others who have taught for Tango Warwick:

For your and our safety we will strictly impose:
(Modified) COVID SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Dancers who come without a partner or who wish to change partners, as normal in non-covid times, must be able to show they have completed their vaccination (at least 2 jabs or equivalent) by the time of the class AND have had a negative lateral flow test in the 24 hours prior to the class. If you come with a partner and will not dance with anyone else during the evening you need only show you have had a negative test that day. For the test you can simply bring along the plastic piece which registers the result, or show the NHS message relating to it.
Please remember that, at the moment, covid is highly infectious, these safety conditions reduce but do not rule out the possibility of infection. If you come you have to be prepared to accept that possibility.
You must also agree to sensitively respect other's wishes so far as social distancing and other covid precautions are concerned.
COST & TIMING: Pay £8 at door. The class runs from 6.30 to 7.30 pm on Fridays from 11th Feb, apart from the first Friday of each month. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start to give time to register and have vaxx etc status checked.
DRESS: Loose clothing is best, otherwise anything goes-see photos (of students, not teachers!).
SHOES: its best to have soles which can slide and slip on the floor, rather than rubber soles. Ladies often like an inch or so of heel, but lots use flat shoes. Comfort is important, but it's inconvenient for you if your shoes fall off.
OTHER COVID SAFETY suggestions &rules:
Please bring your own water or refreshments for use in the classes.
You will need to give track & trace info on arrival, either via the government QR code or manually.
Use of face coverings on arrival, in the corridors, foyer, & toilets, is required by the church at the moment, but no need during the class or socialising afterwards.
Hand sanitisers are available. Please do not congregate in the foyer or corridors: they are not well ventilated.
In general use your most cautious bits of common sense! we really do want to stay dancing together.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There will be other more advanced classes and a practica later in the evening, as usual. Often more advanced dancers come to the first class to hone up their fundamentals and assist the beginners.
