Barry Lonik will lead a hike of 4-6 miles in Waterloo State Recreation Area. We’ll start on the Cedar Lake Esker. There will be some big hills, and some secondary trails. The pace will allow hikers a choice of a steady-fast workout level or a moderate speed.
Start point will be on the Cedar Lake esker. Lots of opportunity to discuss glacial action!
Directions: From I-94 take the Pierce Rd. exit 157, and go one mile north on Pierce Rd. Turn left (west) onto Cavanaugh Lake Rd. Go west one mile to the Cedar Lake access road, past West Shore Drive. Turn right and go north. Where the road forks, bear right toward Cedar Lake. There is a parking area at the end of the road at the lake. The hike will start a short distance from the parking area.
Meet at 11:00 AM in the Westgate parking lot, 2463 W Stadium Blvd, behind Zingerman’s Roadhouse, to arrange rides. We will leave for Waterloo promptly at 11:15 AM.
