This October, let's leave the city behind and spend four beautiful days surrounded by colourful forests, crisp autumn air and watercolours. 🍁

From 23–26 October, I'll be hosting a new Watercolour & Wellness Retreat in Brandenburg, where we'll paint the beauty of the season together.

We'll wander through the woods collecting inspiration from mushrooms, leaves, moss and woodland textures, then bring them to life in the studio through a series of carefully structured workshops.

This is much more than a painting holiday.

Each class focuses on a different watercolour technique—from wet-on-wet and transparent layering to glazing, texture, colour mixing and preserving light. You'll receive demonstrations, personalised feedback and individual guidance throughout the weekend, so you'll leave with stronger skills, more confidence and paintings you're truly proud of.

Whether you're new to watercolour or already have experience, this retreat is designed to help you grow while enjoying a truly magical autumn weekend.

What's included: All guided watercolour workshops + 3 nights' accommodation in comfortable shared double rooms (two single beds per room) with private bathrooms + Access to the sauna and tennis court + Full board catering (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

Over four Tuesday evenings, we’ll meet four different woodland animals and explore a new way of painting each one with watercolour.

Every week, we’ll look closely at one animal and use it as an opportunity to learn and practise different watercolour techniques. Some paintings will be more realistic, others more loose or abstract — the idea is to discover how many different ways watercolour can describe an animal.

We’ll also look at a selection of picture books and discover how different artists have interpreted and painted animals in their own unique ways.

We always work step by step, starting with the basics: observing how water and colour interact, experimenting with colour effects, and learning how to control — and sometimes let go of — the water.

Then we’ll build our animals from simple shapes, exploring different effects and practising textures such as fur, feathers, and other details that make each animal unique. At the end of each class, you’ll have time to create your own version of the animal, with a few helpful tricks to make drawing it easier.

What if a lake floated in the sky, a staircase disappeared into the clouds, or mountains grew upside down?

In this four-week watercolour workshop, we'll explore imaginary landscapes that combine familiar places with unexpected elements, creating dreamlike scenes that exist somewhere between reality, fantasy, and the surreal.

Throughout the course, I'll introduce you to different watercolour techniques, including atmospheric washes, distant mountains, colour blending, and layering.

But this workshop is about more than painting techniques! We'll also play with our imagination through creative exercises inspired by the Dadaists and Surrealists: word games, free association, unexpected juxtapositions, changes of scale, and combinations of impossible images. These playful experiments will help us break away from familiar ways of seeing and discover new ideas for our paintings.

Whether you dream of floating islands, strange forests, impossible architecture, or quiet places that feel vaguely familiar, you'll have the chance to develop your own visual language and create landscapes that tell a story.

No previous watercolour experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment!
