What we're about

We love photography in all it's forms and as a group are interested in developing our creativity. We will explore the medium of photography in innovative and exciting ways. We welcome all levels of photographer from absolute beginner to seasoned professional.

You will find three different types of activity here. They are; Walkabouts, Workshops and Courses.

Walkabouts are where we meet at a location, socialise and shoot. They are designed primarily to get everybody to meet one another and we will spice things up with a social/photographically oriented game of sorts to break the ice so to speak. These will happen often and there is no limit to the number of attendees and will only cost R50.

Workshops and Adventures are designed around a specific photography genre, i.e. we will meet and shoot food photography at a restaurant or studio, Macro photography at Kirstenbosch Gardens or stay a night in the Karoo shooting the night sky. These will take a more professional approach and are aimed at imparting specific knowledge to build a particular skill set. These will generally not be ideal for absolute beginners as the workshop won’t have time to make provision for the foundation skills. These will be a bit more expensive based on the location and cost of professional photographer/ equipment. They will run occasionally and attendance will be limited.

And finally the courses! Because we want everybody to be able to participate in workshops and we’d also like to see you all improve your photography skills, there are at present two different courses.

The Basic Camera and Photography course is designed for the absolute novice. We will demystify the camera and set you on your way to being fully in control of your camera and understanding the basic foundations of photography. The course runs over three, two hour sessions.

The Composition and Photography Technique course is designed for intermediate and advanced photographers who would like to explore the dark arts of composition theory! There are many different rules for photography and they are all important! Knowing what the rules are allows you to break them effectively and create unusual artistic masterpieces. The course runs over six, two hour sessions.

We hope to see you and your camera equipment on a shoot soon!! :)
