Speaker: Nicholas Zakas on High Performance JavaScript

  • Nov 3, 2011 · 6:30 PM
  • Wayfair Offices - 4 Copley Place

For much of its existence, JavaScript has been slow. No one complained until developers created complex web applications with thousands of lines of JavaScript code. Although newer JavaScript engines have improved the situation, there’s still a lot to understand about what makes JavaScript slow and what you can do to speed up your code.

Nicholas C. Zakas worked at Yahoo! for almost five years, building and defining front-end strategy for some of Yahoo's largest sites. Nicholas is also the author of several books, including High Performance JavaScript, Professional JavaScript for Web Developers, and Professional Ajax. More about Nicholas:NCZOnline, @slicknet.

I'm bringing along a compact HD video camera. Tripod is too much to carry, but we can sort some desks or books to make it reasonable.

Yes, please video record this event. I can't make it tonight but really wanted to . . .

I would second the Dalton St. garage as it's the least expensive option.

There's lot's of Hotel parking in the area. There's a Central Parking on Dalton Street near Boylston and you can walk from there.

I don't have a video camera, but if someone wants to bring one (like a flip or something) we could definitely set that up!
